PARIS, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- French shares lost on Thursday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 1.92 percent, or 99.84 points, to close at 5,106.37 points.

Of the 40 selected large companies, 35 lost in the day.

French-Italian multinational electronics and semiconductor manufacturer STMicroelectronics advanced 1.95 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. French automotive manufacturer Peugeot rose 0.63 percent and French retail group Carrefour gained 0.29 percent.

French multinational insurance firm AXA lost 3.52 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French transnational energy group Total lost 3.43 percent. French water and waste group Veolia Environnement edged down 3.27 percent. Enditem
